The 2010 NBA World Championship has been won by the LA Lakers, making them back to back champions. They won last years championship as well against Orlando Magic.

Wheaties has honored The Lakers by putting them on their cereal box. A great honor indeed!

The LA Lakers have met The Boston Celtics 11 times before and this makes a whopping 12 times they get to compete against each other. This year our boys have the “home court advantage” for Games 1 & 2 (6 & 7 if needed). Be sure to tune into ABC for the games if you can’t go in person.

Die-hard Lakers fans are in a frenzy. The end of the season is upon us and it is time to wave our purple and gold.

Usually just the mere mention of LeBron’s name & the fight is on, but now mention the Celtics and expect a very long and heated debate on who is the better team. Even worse revisit the 2008 Playoffs against the Celtics and feel the pain. While visiting the numerous NBA forums expect to stay a bit to read through the plethora of comments. Want to know more about Jarrett’s fandom? Eric shared this interesting fact with me: “Like all fans, we watch the games, we buy the merchandise, etc. But for Jarrett and our family, the Lakers mean so much more.

The Lakers help us get through every day by providing much needed distractions, and have greatly improved Jarrett’s quality of life. Jarrett brushes his teeth to players’ jersey number–for instance, I call out “Sasha,” and Jarrett takes 18 brush strokes and then stops.

The lotions we use on his skin have been dubbed, “Kobe Cream,” “Magic,” and “Lamar Lotion.” The “Laker Movie,” which is the Championship DVD, is watched everyday to keep his mind off of scratching. The list goes on and on. Thank goodness the season is starting because we must have watched the Championship DVD over a thousand times.”

Kobe Bryant was selected out of six finalists for the award — a runaway vote!

The list of players, in order of votes are:

• Kobe Bryant (54%)
• LeBron James (17%)
• Shaquille O’Neal (13%)
• Tim Duncan (8%)
• Steve Nash (5%)
• Kevin Garnett (3%)

The original list included 12 prospective players, which also included Tracy McGrady, Allen Iverson, Jason Kidd, Paul Pierce, Dwyane Wade and Dirk Nowitski. TNT analysts had a tough job of whittling the list down to the six above-mentioned picks.

TNT Analyst, Kenny Smith, noted that Allen Iverson should be on the list, while Lebron James hasn’t even been in the league for the entire decade. Lebron has been in the media so much and has been looked upon as a “Golden Child” that I guess he made the grade regardless. If he continues in his current fashion, he too will be taking home some prestigious awards himself — all in good time Lebron.

Fans voted via NBA.com and ultimately Kobe won taking his lion’s share of the vote — 54% to be exact.
